The Online Application Process
The application for a temporary permit has been streamlined for ease and efficiency. The permits are on an auto-approval mode, ensuring that the permit is automatically generated after the necessary fee is paid. Here is the step-by-step process for obtaining the permit:
- Visit the Official Website: Go to vahan.parivahan.gov.in or visit a nearby Common Service Centre (CSC).
- Select Services: Choose ‘Vehicle related services’ under the ‘Online services’ tab.
- State Selection: Select the state – Jammu and Kashmir.
- Register or Login: New users need to register on the site, while existing users can log in using their email id and password.
- Apply for a Permit: Select ‘Apply for Temporary Permit’ under ‘Online Permit services’.
- Vehicle Information: Enter the vehicle’s registration number and the last 5 digits of the chassis number.
- OTP Verification: Upon entering the required details, an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number. Enter this OTP to proceed.
- Enter Additional Details: Input the travelling area specifications, the number of passengers, and the total number of days needed for the permit.
- Payment: Pay the fees online at the rate of Rs 50 per day per bus.
After the payment is made, the temporary permit (TP) is auto-approved. The permit can be printed directly by the user from their account.
