Key Administrative Changes in Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued an official notification regarding the transfers and postings within the General Administration Department. As per the Government Order No. 1084-JK(GAD) of 2024 dated 24th May 2024, there have been significant movements concerning the administrative roles in the tourism sector.

Transfer of Mr. Farooq Ahmad, JKAS

Mr. Farooq Ahmad JKAS, who served as the Chief Executive Officer at Tourism Development Sonamarg, has been transferred from his current posting. He is instructed to await further orders regarding his new assignment in the General Administration Department. The reasons cited for this administrative change are in the interest of governance.

Additional Charge to Mr. Gulzar Ahmad, JKAS

Following the transfer of Mr. Farooq Ahmad, Mr. Gulzar Ahmad JKAS, presently the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal, has been given additional responsibility. He is to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer, Tourism Development Sonamarg, along with his existing duties. This arrangement has been made effective immediately and is to be upheld until further notice.

This recent shuffle reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to reposition key personnel in areas of strategic importance. The administration emphasizes that these changes have been undertaken to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Tourism Department, which plays a significant role in the state’s economy and cultural heritage.

The order was sanctioned by the Lieutenant Governor’s office and executed under the signature of Sanjeev Verma, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government.
